George "Buzz" Thornton Jr., 54, died Wednesday at his residence.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11a.m. at the Jones-Elks Family Cemetery in Pikeville.
He is survived by his wife, Shelby Thornton of Goldsboro; daughter and son-in-law, Monica and Richard Eason of Goldsboro; son, Joshua Thornton of Goldsboro; three grandchildren, Lindsay Thornton, Brittany Thornton, Bradley Eason, all of Goldsboro; mother and stepfather, Doris and Garland Jones of Pikeville; his father and stepmother, George and Ruby Thornton of Goldsboro; a brother, Steve Thornton of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Kathy Trogden of Pikeville, Ann Cabaniss of Alabama; one brother, Steve Thornton of Colorado; one half-brother, Danny Frank of Pikeville; two half-sisters, Mawan Bunn of Goldsboro, Janice Miller of Roanoke Rapids; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
Family members will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.
