Died Feb. 28, 2008

CHESAPEAKE, Va. -- Frances S. Freeman, 88, passed away peacefully Thursday. Frances, a native of Goldsboro, was living in Chesapeake near family. She will always be remembered for the way she greeted friends and family with a bright, warm smile and kind, loving words.

She leaves to cherish her memory her four children, David Van Hoy and his wife, Lorraine, Frank Van Hoy and his wife, Cindy, Bill Van Hoy and his wife, Barbara, Mary Ann Aldridge and her husband , Charlie; three sisters, Josephine Kannon, Edna Worley, Katherine Wallace; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Frances was predeceased by her husband, Bill Freeman; and son, Ken Van Hoy.

Frances worked for many years then retired from Borden Manufacturing Company. After retirement at age 65, she returned to school to finish her GED. She and husband, Bill Freeman, were devoted members of Oak Forest Church of Christ before she moved to Virginia.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home in Goldsboro. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 3, at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Goff officiating. The burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
