LARRY L. HOPKINS

Died Feb. 24, 2008

Larry L. Hopkins, 70, of 8030 Summit Drive, died Sunday at his residence. Born in Columbia, N.C., he was the son of the late Grady L. and Evelyn Spruill Hopkins. Larry was a firefighter with the U.S. Air Force for 22 years and then served another 17 years with the Civil Service. He was a member of the N.C. Firemen's Association. A member of the Soundside Missionary Baptist Church in Columbia, N.C., Larry attended Love Memorial Baptist Church in Goldsboro. He was an avid outdoorsman and a member of the Stuck In The Pines Hunting Club.

A service to celebrate Larry's life will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Toler officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Larry thought his greatest accomplishment was the family he left behind which include his wife, Christine M. Hopkins; a son, Larry Curtis Hopkins and his wife, Melanie H. Hopkins; a daughter, Lynn Hopkins and her fiancé, Red Wise; his grandchildren, Larry Derek Hopkins, Curtis Chase Hopkins and Amber Lynn Tyson; two brothers, Brian Hopkins and wife, Gail, Gordon Hopkins and wife, Sue; a sister, Jane Hibbs and husband, Frank; brothers-in-law, Clyde Litchfield and wife, Genevieve, Sydney Litchfield; a sister-in-law, Carla Sawyer and husband, Ronnie; and many nieces and nephews.

Family members will greet friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home.
