Died Feb. 17, 2008

PINK HILL -- The Rev. Norman Wilson Ard, 71, of 790 Jonestown Road, died Sunday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

Norman was ordained into the ministry in 1957 at Beulah FWB Church in Pamplico, S.C. His pastorates included May's Chapel FWB Church 1957-1958, Christian Chapel FWB Church and Gray Branch FWB Church 1958-1962, Elm Grove FWB Church 1962-1967, Christian Chapel FWB Church 1967-1979, First FWB Church, Goldsboro, N.C. 1979-2006. He served on the Foreign Mission Board from 1974-1987.

Norman is preceded in death by his parents, John and Maude Ard; brothers, Cecil Ard and Kemery Ard; and a sister, Alice Poston.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at Christian Chapel Church with the Rev. Joseph Ard and the Rev. Craig Ham officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Vause Ard of the home; daughter, Marla Ard Ham and husband, Craig, of Fayetteville; sons, the Rev. Joseph Norman Ard and wife, Billie, of Pink Hill, Julis Todd Ard and wife, Bonnie, of Pink Hill; sisters, Wilma Cooper of Pamplico, S.C., Sylvia Ard of Hemingway, S.C.; grandchildren, Mitchell Sutton, Billy Joe Ard, Abbey Sutton, Madison Sutton, Caleb Ard, Lauren Ard, Sarah Ham; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held following the services Tuesday night.

In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made in memory of the Rev. Norman Ard in care of Mount Olive College, 634 Henderson St., Mount Olive, N.C. 28365.

Arrangements are by Pink Hill Funeral Home, Pink Hill.
