Lillian Joyner Gouty, 76, died Monday at Craven Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Gouty was an educator with the Jones County Public School System for over 30 years.
A memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pollock-Best Funerals and Cremations. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and other times at the home of her daughter, Jessica Smith, 2111 Olympia Road, New Bern.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Wayne G. Gouty; and a son, Joseph Gouty. Surviving are two sons, James Gouty of Asheboro, Henry Gouty of New Bern; one daughter, Jessica Smith of New Bern; seven grandchildren, Jarrod, Ray, Will, Ethan, Lamar, Paige and Dylan; and her brother, Lawrence Peterson of Virginia.
