JOSEPH PATRICK DICKERSON

CALYPSO -- On a day known for love, a man that was and still is loved so much was called home. Joseph Patrick "Joe" Dickerson is now with those who loved him; however, he has left even more behind who love him.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife for almost 60 years, Marie Hamrick Dickerson; one duaghter, Linda D. Witherington and husband, Charles, of Mount Olive; two sons, Roger Dickerson and wife, Janet, of Richmond, Va.; Glen Dickerson and wife, Peggy, of Mount Olive; three grandchildren, Patrick Dickerson and wife, Angie, Mary Ann Cree Mills, Tracie Walker and husband, Rick; nine great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, Henry A. and Sarah Gatens Dickerson; and a grandson, Brian Dickerson.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Calypso Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Powell officiating. Although we are grieving, we grieve for ourselves, for as he walks the golden streets of heaven, he has no more worries, no more sorrows, no more pain. So, until we see him again, he will remain in our hearts for he was the last of his kind.

The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at other times they will be at the home at 115 Church St., Calypso.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Peace Baptist Church, P.O. Box 331, Calypso.
