RALEIGH -- Edsel E. Williams, 84, formerly of 204 S. Jefferson St., Goldsboro, died Thursday morning at Litchford Health Care in Raleigh.

Edsel was born in Johnston County to the late Joseph Adam Williams and Loma Mae Massengill Williams. He was the owner and operator of Master Carpet and Interior in Goldsboro. Edsel was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church. He was a member of the Wayne Shrine Club and the Goldsboro Masonic Lodge No. 634 A.F. & A.M.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Talmage Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with Masonic Rites.

Edsel is survived by his wife, Lucille L. Williams; his daughter, Beverly Williams Brown of West Bloomfield, Mich.; his sisters, Irva Daniels of Raleigh, Geraldine Myers and husband, Don, of Raleigh; his brother, Lloyd Williams of Raleigh; three grandchildren, Lt. Wesley Alexander Brown and wife, Alisha, of Norfolk, Va., Susan Katherine Brown of Chicago, III, Sarah Elizabeth Brown of West Bloomfield, Mich. He is also survived by a special nephew, Roy Jones and wife, Brenda, of Kinston.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his daughter, Pauline Frye Williams; and his sister, Josie Thompson.

Memorials in his memory may be made to the Madison Avenue Baptist Church, 300 S. Madison Ave., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530 or to the Eastern Alzheimer's Association, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 208, Raleigh, N.C. 27605.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
