GRACE B. PENN

LAGRANGE -- Mrs. Elinor Grace Barrow Penn, 84, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2008, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. A native of Greene County, she was born April 7, 1924, the daughter of the late Bill and Emma Mitchell Barrow. Mrs. Penn lived in Greene County for the majority of her life and was a member of Jerusalem United Methodist Church.

Funeral celebrating her life will be 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service in Snow Hill, with the Revs. Al Sullivan and Danny Freuler officiating. Committal services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Mewborn Family Cemetery.

Mrs. Penn was preceded in death by her husbands, Malcolm B. Gay and Samuel Lee Penn; and a son, Donald B. Gay.

Her surviving family includes her daughters and sons-in-law, Jimmie Gay and Kenneth Sauls, and Emma Gay and Carlyle Waters, all of LaGrange; sisters, Betty Chase of Snow Hill and Beatrice Waller of Farmville; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Monday and other times at the residence, 2307 N. Beston Road, LaGrange. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Jerusalem U.M.C., c/o Larry Stroud, 3640 Hwy. 13 S., Snow Hill, N.C. 28580.
