VETA MCKEE CARTER

KINSTON -- Veta McKee Carter, 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday. She was born in Whiteville, N.C., to the late Rossie and Theatus Carter. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Retho Carter. Mrs. Carter will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandma and sister. She was a member of Westside F.W.B. Church and she loved her church and church family. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a cancer survivor and continuously gave thanks to the Lord for all he has done for her.
Survivors include daughters, Angela Carter Hill of Ocean Isle, N.C., Donna Carter Lee and husband, Kevin, of Kinston; sons, Benjamin Keith Carter and wife, Barbara, of Hollywood, Calif., Robert Allen Carter and wife, Elizabeth, of New Bern, Patrick Maurice Carter and wife, Melissa, of Georgia; grandchildren, Allen Jo Carter, Christy Dawn Carter, Michael Allen Carter, Eric Hill and wife, Heather, Brandon Hill, Jessalyn Hill, Jennifer Hill, Matthew Carter, Dylan Carter, Justin Carter and Erika Lee; great-grandchildren, Courtney Jo Carter, Stormy Jo Carter, Morgan Carter, Danielle Carter, Zoë Carter, Baby Hill; sisters, Ava McKee Callahan of Goldsboro and Barbara Hall of Wilmington; and sisters-in-law, Inez McKee of Whiteville and Elizabeth Tripp of Kinston.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at the funeral home with pastor Jeff Daughety and pastor Chris Singleton officiating. Burial will follow the service at Westview Cemetery.
