FAYE D. GARNER

Mollie Faye Davis Garner, 70, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday at Wake Medical Center.

Faye was born in Wayne County to the late Peary and Molly Davis. She graduated from B.F. Grady High School and later received her degree in education from East Carolina University. Faye was a teacher for Wayne County Public Schools and spent her entire teaching career at Meadow Lane Elementary School. She retired from teaching in 1993. Faye will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a special friend to many. She was known as "Mema" to her grandchildren and their friends. Faye was a faithful member of New Hope Friends Church.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at New Hope Friends Church with her husband, Bill Garner, officiating. Interment will be Friday at 11 a.m. at New Hope Friends Cemetery.

Faye is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, William D. Garner Jr.; her daughters, Kyra Lynn Garner and Terri Faye Thompson and husband, Harvey Lane Thompson; her pride and joys, grandchildren, William Joseph Hathaway, Emily Ryan Hathaway, Daniel Reed Thompson, Riley Elizabeth Thompson and her future granddaughter-in-law, Christie Lynn Bradshaw. She is also survived by her sister, Sibyle Davis Smith and husband, Roy; her sister-in-law, Patricia Garner Uzzell and husband, William Wood; and special nieces and nephews, Sharon Smith Gore, Leland Smith, Tonya Uzzell Best and husband, Tommy, Natalie Uzzell Wright and husband, Dave, and their children, Jodie Uzzell Hudson and husband, Dwayne, and their children, Noelle Uzzell, Karlawish and husband, Keith, and their children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded death by her mother and father-in-law, William and Lela Sills Garner.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to New Hope Friends Church Building Fund, 4451 E. U.S. Highway 70, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

The family will receive friends Thursday following the service in the Family Life Center of New Hope Friends Church and other times at their home in Goldsboro.
