CAROLYN C. MATTHEWS

LAGRANGE -- Carolyn Coggins Matthews, 61, of 2457 N. Beston Road, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Carolyn was born in Greene County to the late William Paul Coggins and Vernice Wooten Coggins. She graduated from Wayne Community College and was working as a Licensed CNA with Britthaven of Goldsboro. Carolyn was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and was active in the ladies auxiliary. She was a member of the New Hope Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, loved cooking and adored her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at 7 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Williams and the Rev. Larry Turlington officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Worrell Family Cemetery.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 40 years, James E. Matthews; son, Jim Matthews and wife, Amy, of LaGrange; two grandchildren, Alan Blake Matthews and Amanda Caroline Matthews; sister, Jeanette Jones and husband, David, of Snow Hill; brother and sister-in-law, John and Clara Lee Matthews of Greensboro; and special nephew, Michael Jones and wife, Lindsey, and his daughter, Renee, of Snow Hill.

The family will receive friends Friday following the service and at other times they will be at the home of Jim and Amy Matthews, 2499 N. Beston Road, LaGrange.
