MOUNT OLIVE -- Alton Ray Price, 72, of 308 N. Church St. died Sunday at Wake Med in Raleigh.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steven Wicks officiating.

Interment will follow in Maple-wood Cemetery.

A veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War era, he was a member of the Mount Olive Presbyterian Church. He was an avid sportsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and had been a truck driver, with the Mount Olive Gas Co. being his last place of employment.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cathy Wagner Price, of the home; a son, Mark Price of Mount Olive; five daughters and sons-in-law, Terrie and Steve Walton of Goldsboro, Kim and Kell Williams of Wake Forest, Tracy and Brett Clutch of Rolesville, and Elizabeth Price and Amy Price, both of the home; five grandchildren, Kyle, Kendyl, and Kristen Williams and Abbie and Madison Walton; a brother, Rodney Price of Wilmington; and three sisters, Lettie Mae Price of Warrenton, Ruth Spivey of Dayton, Tenn., and Sue Samuels of Grand Rapids, Mich. Also surviving are many other supporting family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Kawa Price; his parents, William Monroe Price and Daisy Hughes Price; two sisters, Martha Maples and Inez Culbreth; and three brothers, Ennis Price, Hubert Price, and James Price.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and at other times at the home of Jorge and Patsy West, 115 East John St. in Mount Olive.
