GERTRUDE M. ARTIS

Prophetess Gertrude Mable "Puttin" Artis, 75, of 1305 North Drive, went to be with her Lord on Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital with her family at her bedside. Prophetess Artis was born in Wayne County to the late Willie and Rebecca Best Melvin. She was married to the late Thomas Henry Artis who preceded her in death along with seven brothers and sisters.
The visitation will be held at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 3-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2007. The funeral service will be on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at 11:30 a.m. at Tabernacle of Prayer for All People, 1005 S. John St., Goldsboro, N.C. Pastor Joseph Stevens officiating.
She is survived by six children, Pastor Sharieon Goodman of Upper Marlboro, Md., Elder Tommie A. Artis of New Haven, Conn., Evangelist Wilma J. Artis, Jerry Artis, Rhonda Artis and Marcus Artis, all of Goldsboro; 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The Artis family will receive friends at the home of Rhonda Artis, 1305 North Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. Interment at Old Mill Cemetery.
