EVELYN J. PICKETT

DURHAM -- Evelyn J. Pickett, 88, died Wednesday. She was born in Goldsboro, N.C. to Samuel and Bessie Jernigan. She has been a resident of Durham since 1941.
She is survived by her sons, Wallace L. Pickett Jr. of Durham, N.C.; Ronald D. Pickett and wife, Sylvia, of Durham, N.C.; M. Deryl Pickett and wife, Dianne, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; her brothers, Sam Jernigan of Goldsboro, N.C., Ed Jernigan of Goldsboro, N.C.; her sister, Ruth Jernigan of Goldsboro, N.C.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Yates Baptist Church, 2819 Chapel Hill Road, Durham. Pastor Don Gordon will be officiating. Interment will follow at Old Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home.
