G.B. SMITH

Giles Brooks "G.B." Smith, 85, went to be with his Lord on Monday evening at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
G.B. was born in Wayne County to the late Fennel Smith and Mattie S. Smith. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church. G.B. served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Everett officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.
G.B. is survived by his faithful wife of 55 years, Thelma Jean Morse Smith; his brother, Linwood Smith and wife, Audrey, of Waynesville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
On Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, G.B. was preceded in death by his sister, Ethel Boyette. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Brutus "B.O." Smith and George Smith; and his sisters, Lillian Moye, Beatrice Corbett and Mabel Coltrane.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church, 2802 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27534 or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Va. 23058.
The family will receive friends following the service on Friday at Seymour Funeral Home.
