Fred Alexander Reaves Jr., 78, of 608 Lake Shore Drive, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Reaves was born in Greene County, Tenn., to the late Fred A. Reaves Sr. and Maggie Belle Hixon Reaves. He was a graduate of Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tenn. Mr. Reaves had been sales manager for J.J. Haines & Co., Inc. and was retired from Wayne Community College where he was an instructor in the Business Department. Mr. Reaves was recognized as a 50-year member of the Sudan Temple and was a member of Walnut Creek Country Club. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. William Ordelt officiating. Graveside services will be held at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery in Greeneville, Tenn., at a date to be named later.

Mr. Reaves is survived by his wife, Marilyn Eisenhower Reaves; his daughter, Mary Lisa Peele and husband, George K. Peele, of Goldsboro; his sons, Russell Eric Reaves and wife, Lynda "Charlie" Whittington Reaves, and John Robert Reaves and wife, Patricia Mozingo Reaves, all of Goldsboro; and his grandchildren, Eric Alexander Reaves and Summer Gail Fishman.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Tony Reaves; and his sister, Willie Kate Holloman.

In lieu of flowers, Mr. Reaves and the family request donations be made to the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, S.C. 29605-4277 or to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 532 Country Day Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
