ANN CLAIRE JOHANNES

Died Dec. 16, 2007

BOILING SPRINGS, S.C. -- Ann Claire Greenagel Johannes won a five-year battle with MS and left this earth on Sunday to be with her loving Savior. She leaves her husband of 39 years, USAF Retired Lt. Col. John, known more as "Jack"; two boys, Matthew and wife, Janina, of Clayton, N.C., and Chris and wife, Lara Joy, of Moore, S.C.; and four grandchildren, Holly, Gavin and Frederik of Clayton, N.C., and Luke of Moore, S.C., who affectionately referred to her as "Gabby."

Born in Melrose, Minn., Ann grew up in Fergus Falls, Minn., with four brothers, Dr. Tom Greenagel and wife, Dianne, from Henning, Minn., Bob Greenagel and wife, Bev, from Eagan, Minn., Bill Greenagel and wife, Patti, from Menomonee, Wis., and Judd Greenagel who died at 18 months. Her mother, Elyvan, and father, Howard, preceded her in death.

Ann graduated from Fergus Falls High School, Minn., in 1965. After studying elementary education at St. Cloud State University, Ann married and gave her life supporting her husband for 20 years in the USAF, followed by the last 20 years in North and South Carolina, 15 of which were in the Upstate. Ann always made home a beautiful loving environment for not only her family, but to scores of friends from all over the world. She was best known for her hospitality and kindness.

She was a bit of a perfectionist in her home and an avid weeder who sought to keep the whole neighborhood squeaky clean, but always seemed to find time for everyone. She loved people and always injected those around her with a spunky flair and a zest for life! She ministered with her husband for six years as Singles Leaders in Goldsboro, N.C., and served as a home group leader with Evangel Cathedral for five years before being stricken with MS. She was also active in choir ministry for most of her life in many churches.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.
