RENA H. BROADIE
Died Dec. 9, 2007
EUREKA -- Rena Hinnant Broadie, lovingly known by her church family and friends as "Mother Broadie," 91, died on Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, Goldsboro, N.C.
Mother Broadie was born in Wayne County to the late John and Sarah Ruffin Hinnant. She was one of 12 siblings, in which all preceded her in death. Also, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Broadie, and five of her children.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Eureka, 108 Baker St., Eureka, N.C., with Dr. Odell Forte officiating. A viewing will be held, Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., from 1 to 8 p.m. A wake will be conducted from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the family present to receive friends and other family members. Interment will follow the funeral service on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at Fremont Cemetery, Fremont, N.C.
She is survived by one daughter; Betty Broadie of Eureka, N.C.; four sons, King David Broadie and wife, Evelyn, Donnahue Broadie and wife, Veronica, all of Eureka, N.C., Bobby Broadie and wife, Diane, of Havelock, N.C., Roosevelt Broadie of Baltimore, Md.; 18 grandchildren; and three special and devoted granddaughters, Wanda Newsome of Eureka, N.C., Gwen Batts of Pikeville, N.C., Donna Newsome of Raleigh, N.C.; 24 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Catherine Hinnant of Goldsboro, N.C.; several nieces and nephews, including one special niece, Gertrude Crooms of Goldsboro, N.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
At other times, the family will be receiving friends and other family members at 284 Redhill Road, Fremont, N.C. 27830.
