CHESAPEAKE, Va. -- Georgia Christine "Toni" Rose, 83, passed away Thursday in her home with her beloved daughter and great-granddaughter at her side. She will be dearly missed and forever loved.

Toni was born in Goldsboro, N.C., to the late Jesse Haywood and Georgia Flowers Taylor. She was also predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Albert Ralph Rose; her brothers, Clifton Taylor, J.R. Taylor, Paulette Taylor; and sister, Melissa Weaver.

Mrs. Rose retired from Montgomery Ward in Sacramento, Calif., before returning to Virginia to be closer to her family. She was a member of the Great Bridge Evangelical Free Church in Chesapeake where she supported the local food bank and was also a member of the Stone Hill Condominium Association. She loved music, gardening, was an avid NASCAR fan, having followed her husband's racing career for many years. She found great pleasure in traveling with her family and friends, her greatest joy was giving to those in need.

She is survived by her loving daughter, June R. Hudgins and husband, Elton, of Chesapeake; a granddaughter, Kristen H. Chance and husband, Tommy, of Harbinger, N.C.; a grandson, Brian M. Hudgins of Glen Allen, Va.; and a great- granddaughter, Nivelle M. Chance of Harbinger, N.C.; a sister, Erma Thrasher of Fair Oaks, Calif.; and dear friends, Doug and Dottie Jones of Southern Shores, N.C.

Dr. Angus McDonald will conduct a graveside service at 3 p.m. in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, 524 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, Va. 23322. A reception will follow at the residence of her daughter, June Hudgins on Fairfield Drive, Chesapeake.

Her daughter would liked to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to Dr. Louis Carideo and the wonderful staff at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center for their compassionate care of her mother throughout the years. The prayers of God's people gave her great courage and strength to face the difficulties that she endured, and now she is at peace in Heaven.

She was a tender mother and a faithful friend.
