PIKEVILLE -- Evelyn Boyette Holland, 77, of 481 Nor-Am Road, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Evelyn was born in Wayne County to the late Ralph Boyette and Mabel Strickland Boyette Gardner. She was an active member of the Salvation Army Church in her youth and had been an active member of the Salvation Army's Women's Home League Ministry for the last several years. Evelyn had faithfully attended the First Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years until her sickness in January 2007. She also was an active member of the Progressive Bible Sunday school class and served on the benevolence committee at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Evelyn enjoyed gospel singings and had sung many duos at church in her youth. She found pleasure in helping others and loved being with family and friends. Evelyn had been a Christian since her youth and is now in Heaven with Jesus walking streets of gold.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Jimmy Whitfield, the Rev. Morris Smith and Major Andrew Wiley officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Evelyn is survived by her faithful husband of 57 years, George Holland; her devoted daughter, Miss Kathy Fay Holland of the home; her sisters, Vennie Lee Moore and husband, Jack, of Goldsboro and Mabel Louise "Bootsie" Smith and husband, Donnie, of Goldsboro; her brothers, Ray Boyette and wife, Doris, of Goldsboro, Linwood Earl "Jack" Boyette and wife, Dorothy, of Goldsboro and Heyward Boyette and wife, Kathy, of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her baby daughter.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
