DAVID J. SASSER

David J. Sasser, 75, of 2974 N.C. 581 North, died Sunday at Wake Medical Center. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Albert and Minnie Killette Sasser. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter; a brother, Thomas Sasser; sisters, Lorraine Sasser, Hazel Seymore and Rachel Martin; and a brother-in-law, David Sykes. He was a member of Pike's Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church and a member of the Gideon's International. David retired from the Goldsboro Fire Department and was a member of the retired Goldsboro Firefighter's Association. He was an avid beekeeper and was a past president and vice president of the N.C. Beekeepers Association.

Funeral services will be held Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with the Rev. Merrill Davis officiating. Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Aycock Family Cemetery.

Mr. Sasser is survived by his wife, Harlene Aycock Sasser; two sons, David J. Sasser and wife, Twilla, of Keizer, Oregon, David Brian Sasser of Pinkney, N.C.; a daughter, Leigh Ann Wyckoff and husband, Douglas, of Pikeville, N.C.; two stepsons, Richard Sasser and wife, Dana, Rudy Sasser and wife, Joy, all of Pinkney, N.C.; three sisters, Catherine Sykes of Goldsboro, N.C., Margaret Powell and husband, John, of Goldsboro, N.C., Joyce Craft and husband, Fred, of Pikeville, N.C., Alice Hartley and husband, Pete, of Princeton, N.C.; a brother, Charlie Sasser and wife, Debbie, of Woodstock, Ga.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Friends and family will gather immediately following the service at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home for visitation and fellowship and at other times will be at the home.
