JERRY STRICKLAND

PIKEVILLE -- Herman Jerry Strickland, 60, of 266 Ivey Lane, died Monday at his home after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Strickland was born in Johnston County to the late Herman Jeffrey Strickland and Lillie Mae Godwin Strickland. He was retired from the Town of Pikeville maintenance department. He was a member of Blended Fellowship Church.

Graveside services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Seymour officiating.

Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife, Shirley Witherington Strickland; his son, Jerry Strickland Jr. of the home; his daughter, Michelle Strickland of the home; his brother, Bobby Turner and wife, Judy, of Goldsboro; his sisters, Mary Williford and husband, Trellis, of Rocky Mount, Pat Fagala and husband, Jim, of Wilson and Jean Duncan and husband, Chick, of Evansville, Ind.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jerry Strickland Memorial Fund, c/o Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
