ALAN WEIL

Alan Weil, 64, a friend to many, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 16, at home after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Alan was born in Goldsboro on Aug. 6, 1943, to the late Abram and Mabel Mann Weil.
Alan was a 1961 graduate of Goldsboro High School, a 1965 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and attended one year of law school at UNC before serving in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. He worked with the family business, H. Weil and Bros. from 1968 until the present. H. Weil and Bros., established in 1865, included Weil's Inc., DEV Corporation, Weil Building, Inc., Weil-Creech Oil Company, H and S Properties, Woodberry Associates and Northeastern Properties, Inc.
Alan was also affiliated with Weil Employees Trust Fund and Wayne Foundation Inc., through which he was able to help many, never expecting any recognition.
Alan is survived by his wife, Kathryn Adcock Weil; daughter, Shannon Weil Potts; son-in-law, Dr. Christopher Potts; and one special granddaughter and namesake, Grace Alan Potts, all of Goldsboro.
Also surviving are sisters Linda Weil of Raleigh and Carol Weil of Garner; nephew, Stephen Morris; and niece, Laura Morris of North Caro-lina.
Alan and his family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Atkins and the entire staff of Southeastern Medical Oncology and Home Health and Hospice.
Alan enjoyed visiting the beach and taking yearly trips to Key West and New England. He had a great appreciation for nature and all animals. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to the Wayne County Humane Society, P. O. Box 54, Goldsboro, N.C. 27533.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Willow Dale Cemetery in Goldsboro, 306 East Elm St. The family and friends will receive friends immediately after the service. Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home.
