P. LEONARD SASSER

MOUNT OLIVE -- P. Leonard Sasser, 82, died Thursday afternoon at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

He was a retired farmer, a member of the Mount Olive Presbyterian Church and was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served on the USS Duncan.

Preceded in death by his wife, Annie Flora Dixon Sasser; his parents, Paul Leamon Sasser and Lillian Flowers Sasser; three brothers, Norman Sasser, Roland Sasser and Kenneth Sasser; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Sandra Sasser of Mount Olive; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Kay and Ike O'Tuel of Raeford; two sisters, Edna S. Norris of Clinton and Irene S. Harrell of Fuquay-Varina; three grandchildren, Alex Sasser of Garner, John O'Tuel of Durham and Shannon O. McDonald of Monroe; three great-grandchildren, Peyton and Cole McDonald and Jack O'Tuel; and a special niece, Dr. Karen Dixon Lee of Alexandria, Va.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with visitation following. The family will be at the Sasser residence at 959 Old Smith Chapel Road, Mount Olive, on Saturday afternoon and at other times at the Paul and Sandra Sasser residence at 803 Shady Grove Road, Mount Olive.

Committal and interment will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Wayne Memorial Park. The Rev. Steven Wicks will be officiating.
