LAGRANGE -- Shirley Casper White, also known as "Ma," 71, departed this life on Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

She was born to the late Theodore and Blanch Aldridge Casper of Lenoir County. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She had a love for the beach, fishing and painting ceramics.

Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, from the chapel of Garner Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park.

She is survived by her husband of 51 1/2 years, John White of LaGrange; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Ken DuRee of Eden, and Laurie and Ed Simon of LaGrange; son and daughter-in-law, John and Heather White of LaGrange; her granddaughters, Michelle Carmichael of Goldsboro, Angie Simon, Natalie Simon, Cheyenne White; grandsons, Nic DuRee and John White III; great-granddaughters, Jordan Carmichael and Jade Carmichael; her great-grandson, Jacob Carmichael; her brother, Billy Casper of Pink Hill; and a special friend, Gladys Basden of Pink Hill.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 709 W. Vernon Ave., Kinston, N.C. 28501.
