MYRTLE L. STANLEY June 3, 1921-Nov. 10, 2007

Myrtle Long Stanley, 86, formerly of Goldsboro, died Saturday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fayetteville, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Born in Person County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Thomas and Mary Davis Long and was preceded in death by her husbands, Edwin F. Wolfe Jr. and Lester W. Stanley. A veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II, she was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion and was a frequent volunteer at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fayetteville. She attended Trinity Baptist Church when her health allowed.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Altavista Memorial Cemetery in Altavista, Va.

Mrs. Stanley is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, George Michael and Joan Wolfe of Goldsboro; a sister, Molly Wheeler of Altavista, Va.; two grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law, Ryan Wolfe of Philadelphia, Pa., Jeffery and Kerry Wolfe of Goldsboro; and two great granddaughters, Kelsey and Karlyn Wolfe of Goldsboro.

Family members will be at the home of her son, George, 276 Leslie Road, Goldsboro.
