LAGRANGE -- Lawrence Paul "Larry" Mattey Jr., 49, of 115 Barbara Drive, died Wednesday at Wake Medical Center.

Larry was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., to the late Lawrence Paul Mattey Sr. and Margaret Jane Wint Mattey. He was a graduate of GAR High School in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. and attended Penn State University. Larry was employed as manager of Bojangles in Warsaw and was formerly employed in management with Eckerd Drugs and Hardee's of Goldsboro. He had served as the co-president and was the co-founder of the Wayne County National Kidney Foundation. Larry was a member of New Hope Road Church of God.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Anderson and the Rev. David Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Larry is survived by his wife, Sheila Diann Walker Mattey; his son, Kevin Duane Capps and wife, Stephanie, of Goldsboro; his sisters, Barbara Anderson and husband, Don, of Stokesdale, Brenda Chu and husband, Peter, of Mount Effort, Pa.; his grandchildren, Taylor Morgan Howell, Katie Diann Capps and his soon-to-be born grandchild, Kendall Faith Capps; and several nieces and nephews.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to New Hope Road Church of God, 702 E. New Hope Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
