EDGAR "SARG" ANDERSON

Edgar "Sarg" Anderson was born in Blair, Wis., to the late Elmer and Clara Hanson Anderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Smith Anderson, sister and brother-in-law, Aroline and Walter Everson and a stepson, Kenneth Smith. Sarg retired from the City of Goldsboro in 1990 after 27 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during World War II and was a member of the Goldsboro Country Gold Wing Club.
Funeral services will be held Friday night at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with pastor Jerry Andrews officiating. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Anderson is survived by three stepchildren, Braxton and Debbie Smith of Pink Hill, Ann and Clark Lane of LaGrange, Boyce Smith of Pink Hill; a daughter- in-law, Gail Smith of Raleigh; his granddaughter that he raised, Lisa and her husband, Dan Merritt, of Dudley; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one niece, Dixie Everson of Wisconsin; one nephew, George Everson of Wisconsin; three great-nieces and one great-nephew.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the United Hospice of Eastern North Carolina, P.O. Box 201, Farmville, N.C. 27828.
The family would like United Hospice of North Carolina and Britthaven of LaGrange to know how much they appreciate all the compassion and caring they gave during this time.
Family members will greet friends immediately following the service Friday night at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home of Ann and Clark Lane, 410 N. Caswell St., LaGrange, N.C.
