JESSIE E. COTTON

Jessie Elwood Cotton, 63, died suddenly on Friday.

Jessie was born in Wayne County to the late Paul Franklin Cotton and Lila Mae Mooring Cotton. He formerly operated Cotton's Garage on North William Street in Goldsboro. Jessie was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. An avid fisherman, Jessie had a great love for horses, trucks and boats. Jessie served in the U.S. Navy for 15 years and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Dudley.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Homer Morris officiating.

Jessie is survived by his wife, Marion Lee Robinson Cotton; his children, Marion L. "Tina" Cotton of Orlando, Fla.; Gina Ann Cotton of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Herbert Lewis Cotton of Frederick, Md.; his extended family, Bradley Dale Robinson of Greenville and Jeffrey Lewis Robinson, serving in Iraq; eight grandchildren including one that he raised, Jessie B. Cotton of Frederick, Md.; his sisters, Paulette Brock of Goldsboro and Nora Lawrence Cotton of Fredericksburg, Va.; and his brother, Charles Cotton of Goldsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Va. 23058.

The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service and other times at his home, 1214 N. William St., Goldsboro.
