MARTHA HELEN EDWARDS

Martha Helen Wooten Edwards, 78, went to be with her Lord Jesus on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 in Paris, Texas, at the Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Edwards lived in Goldsboro, N.C. until 2001 at which time she went to live with her daughter, Mona Lisa Ellis, and son-in-law, Major Tex William Ellis Sr., of Paris, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Edwards; father and mother, Ivy and Eva Wooten; and brothers, Robert and "Skin" Wooten.

Mrs. Edwards is survived by her daughter, Mona Lisa Ellis, and son-in-law, Major Tex William Ellis Sr. of Paris, Texas; great-grandson, Terry Wayne; grandson, Captain Tex W. Ellis Jr. and wife, Andrea; great-grandchildren, Tyler William, Tanner Wyatt, and Addison Sydney of Ashland, Ky.; grandson, Toney W. Ellis of Dallas, Texas; grandson, Travis W. Ellis and wife, Christy, of Paris, Texas; great-grandson, Taylor Walker; brother, James Wooten and wife, Saddie, of Havelock, N.C.; and sister, Katherine Games of Morehead City, N.C.

Mrs. Edwards was a longtime member of The Salvation Army Church and a cook for many years. She had many friends and touched numerous lives with her Christian testimony.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made as a memorial gift to the American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org., or to the Salvation Army, 610 N. William St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.

Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will be receiving family and friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
