SMITHFIELD -- Mary Lena Lee, affectionately known by her family and friends as "Wimp," 72, of 615 S. Fifth St., Apt. B, died Monday.

"Wimp" was the daughter of the late Jim Lee and the late Mary Robinson Eldridge and step-daughter of the late Bryant Eldridge. She was born in Sampson County and departed this life peacefully at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield, N.C.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles "Charlie" Henry Eldridge, Shelton Ray "Hot Shot" Eldridge and Curtis Ray "Dee" Eldridge.

"Wimp" leaves behind to cherish her memories; three brothers, Alexander "Dick" Lee of Newton Grove, N.C., Jim Eldridge of Smithfield, N.C. and James Bryant Eldridge of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. Cornelia "Lady Bug" Robinson of Keener Community and Mrs. Shirley Williams and husband, Joseph, of Smithfield, N.C.; one aunt, Mrs. Elizabeth Bryant of Detroit, Mich.; a number of nieces nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at 2 p.m. from the Cedar Point Disciples of Christ Church, 1258 Cedar Point Road, Newton Grove, N.C., with Minister Kent Lee presiding. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Newton Grove, N.C. Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 21, 2007 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro, N.C.
