AMY G. GREENE
RALEIGH -- Mary Amy Garris Greene, 69, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, Sept. 14, 2007. Born in Wayne County on Dec. 22, 1937, to Emmett Preston and Dorothy Mozingo Garris, she attended New Hope School, graduated from Hermitage High School in Richmond, Va., and graduated from Averett College in Farmville, Va.
She is survived by a daughter, Leslye Cooley of Raleigh; her mother, Dorothy Garris Whitehurst and stepfather, the Rev. Virgil Whitehurst; a brother, Preston Franklin Garris; a special nephew, Joel Franklin Garris and wife, Natalie, all of Beston Road in Wayne County. She also leaves behind two other nephews and numerous cousins in Goldsboro and Wayne County.
She was preceded in death by her father, Emmett Preston Garris; her paternal grandparents, Preston Franklin Garris and Amy G. Garris; maternal grandparents, Bennie H. and Mary Carter Mozingo, all of Wayne County.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. Brown Wynn Funeral Home in Raleigh is serving the family.
