BERTHA W. O'NEAL

Bertha Lenora Winstead O'Neal, 77, of 403 N. Kornegay St., died Wednesday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Durham, N.C. to the late William Huron and Viola Williams Winstead and was married to the late Alonza O'Neal. She retired with 30 years of service from Wayne Memorial Hospital where she worked in the admitting office and also worked as a unit secretary.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Belhaven Community Cemetery with Mr. Derik Davis officiating.
A loving wife and mother, she is survived by her children, Sarah O. and Gray Sugg of Raleigh, Walton E. and Irene O'Neal of Newport, N.C., Preston P. O'Neal of Goldsboro and Mary F. O'Neal of Raleigh; three grandchildren, Katherine Young, Neal Sugg and Christopher Sugg; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
