PETER M. STALLINGS III

Peter Milam Stallings, III, 68, died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Peter was born in Virginia to the late Peter Milam Stallings II and Susie Hall Stallings. He was raised in Warren County, N.C. and was a 1956 graduate of John Graham High School, Warrenton, N.C., where he lettered in football and basketball. He had also attended the Fishburn Military Academy. Peter received his B.S. Degree, Masters and Six-Year Degree from East Carolina University. For 25 years, Peter served as the principal for Southview Junior High School in Hope Mills. He was an accomplished golfer and an avid reader, Peter will be missed by his golfing buddies at Goldsboro Golf Club and at the Cardinal Club. Peter had served the Hope Mills community in a variety of capacities and was a member of the Hope Mills Kiwanians, where he had served as the president. He was a member of the Episilon Mu Fraternity Pi Kappa Alfa at East Carolina University. Peter was a member of Saulston United Methodist Church and attended Sharon United Methodist Church at Holden Beach, where he sang in the choir.

A celebration of his life will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Saulston United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rick Ward officiating.

Peter is survived by his wife, Barbara Kleinert Stallings; his daughters, Stacy Stallings Anderson and husband, Tom, of Spotsyl-vania, Va., and Kimberly Dean Josey and husband, Ron, of Nags Head; stepchildren, Henry Martin Jr. of New Bern, William Fan Martin of Raleigh and Kathryn Martin Holliday of Holden Beach; his grandchildren, Austin Stallings-Whitley and Alex-ander Josey; his great-granddaughter, Zoe Carter, his step-grandchildren, Rebecca Martin, Holly Martin, Angie Martin, Olivia Davis and James Davis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saulston United Methodist Church, 5014 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home.

Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Goldsboro, N.C.
