SAM MOORE

Matthew Samuel Moore, 83, of 1801 E. Azalea Drive, died Friday at his home.
Sam was born in Wayne County on Dec. 7, 1923, to the late Matthew Kenan Moore and Ruth F. Moore. He had been a forestry instructor at Wayne Community College. Sam was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Garden of St. Paul United Methodist Church with Dr. Homer Morris officiating.
Sam is survived by his wife, Irene Meekins Moore; his son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Linda Sanders Moore of Hillsborough; his daughter, Laura Patterson of Greenville, S.C.; his sister, Ruth Glass of Whiteville and his grandchildren, Christy Patterson and Amanda Patterson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 W. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
