RONALD N. TYNDALL

Ronald Nelson Tyndall, 84, of 300 Earl Drive, died Thursday at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Tyndall was born in Greene County to the late Levi Ralph Tyndall and Esther Mitchell Tyndall. He retired from the Department of Agriculture and worked in the insurance business. Mr. Tyndall was a World War II veteran and served in the 40th Battalion of the 3rd Infantry of the U.S. Army earning the Purple Heart. He was a physical training instructor in the Army. Mr. Tyndall was a member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge and was also a member of Rosewood Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Bostian officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Tyndall is survived by his wife, Geraldine Grant Tyndall; his daughters, Gail Russell and husband, Stan, of Newport, N.C. and Marsha Bell and husband, Larry, of Apex, N.C.; his son, Ronald Nelson Tyndall Jr. and wife, Becky, of Apex, N.C.; his grandson, Carl Russell and wife, Amber, of Bluefield, W.Va.; his brother, Robert Tyndall of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; his special nephew, Ralph Tyndall and wife, Joanne, of Kinston, N.C. He had two special caregivers in the last two years, Geneva Sutton and Marie Toussiant, who the family greatly appreciated.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Leonard "Pete" Tyndall and Malcolm Lloyd Tyndall and his sister, Joyce Tyndall Gurganus.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 until 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
