FRANCES H. ADAMS

PIKEVILLE -- Frances Herndon Adams, 84, died on Wednesday at her home.

Frances was born in Durham County to the late Henry Clay Herndon and Martha Wilkins Herndon. She was married to the former Sheriff Will Ivey Adams. Frances volunteered with the Girl Scouts of America where she served as a service unit manager and was the recipient of the Silver Sea Gull Award. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Barry Stallings officiating.

Frances is survived by her daughter, Melanie Adams, serving in the U.S. Air Force; her son, William Robert "Bobby" Adams and wife, Gina, of Goldsboro; and her grandchildren, Liam Gordan, Kieran Adams and Nicole Adams. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Tommy and Lynne Herndon, Henry Clay and Brenda Herndon, Martha Herndon, and Buddy and Helga Doame; and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lucille Williams and her brother, Henry Herndon Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wayne County Humane Society, 104 S. Center St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

The family will receive friends Saturday at the graveside following the service.

Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
