KENNETH L. KINLAW

Kenneth Lamont Kinlaw, died Sunday evening, Aug. 11, 2007, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was the son of the late Joe Kinlaw and Annie Pearl Kinlaw.

"Ken", as he was affectionately called was born in Wayne County, July 21, 1949. He attended Wayne County Public Schools. He graduated from Dillard High School in 1967. He entered in the U.S. Air Force soon after graduation. Ken was a member of Saint James Church of Christ.

Kenneth established and operated Marzac Watch Company. He also established a real estate business and operated a camera booth at Berkeley Mall in Goldsboro, N.C.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at Goldsboro Raleigh Disciples Institute, 211 W. Hooks River Road, with the Rev. Vennie J. Hairston officiating. Mr. Kinlaw will be coached to his final resting place in Wayne Memorial Park in the same 1800s period horse drawn hearse that bore the remains of Corretta Scott King, the widow of the slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. The funeral cortege will travel pass his place of business, 417 Walnut St., and through the Little Washington community where he was reared before going to the cemetery. Viewing for the public will be Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, from 2 to 7 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries. The family will receive friends there from 6 to 7 p.m.

He is survived by two daughters, Margo Little and husband, Fred, of Washington, D.C., and Brandy Kinlaw of Maryland; one son, Zachary Kinlaw of Pikeville, N.C.; one granddaughter, Zariah Kinlaw; lifetime partner, Hope Oliver of the home; two sisters, Betty Borden of Durham, N.C. and Margaret Kinlaw of Dudley, N.C.; one niece, Erica Borden of Durham, N.C.; one nephew, Joey L. Kinlaw of Durham, N.C.; two great-nephews and one great-niece; a special and loving extended family, the Olivers, of Goldsboro, N.C.; former wife, Belinda Spencer; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are being handled by McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries of Goldsboro.
