HAYES, Va. -- Jewell Rae Bell Wright was called to be with her friend, her Father in Heaven, on Sunday, July 15, 2007. She has had many long conversations with her friend, and He did as promised, took her home to be with Him and to be free from worry or pain.

She was born on Jan. 11, 1939, in Mount Olive, N.C. She move to Richmond, Va., at age one, then to Newport News, and has resided in Hayes, Va., since 1979.

Jewell graduated from Hermitage High School in Richmond, Va. She was employed by Peninsula Produce and Saville Produce for more than 27 years. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and the Judson Circle.

Her mother, Gladys Whitman Bell of Seven Springs, N.C., and father, Georgie Ray Bell of Mount Olive, N.C., preceded her in death.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Robert N. Wright; two daughters, Vicki Covington and husband, Charles B. III, of Newport News, Lori Wright Nice and husband, Henry R. Jr., of Hayes; beloved granddaughters, Lindsay Creekmur and husband, Adam, Katherine Covington and Carlyn Covington; grandson, Tyler Morgan Nice; her first great-grandson, William "Will" David Creekmur III, that God saw fit for Jewell to stay here to see, love, know and hug; two sisters, Florine B. Holley, JoRita Meyer and husband, Rick, all of Louisa, Va.; sister-in-law, Jacqueline "Jackie" Wright of Greensboro, N.C.; aunt, Ruby Sullivan of Richmond, Va., uncle, Lonnie Bell, of Mount Olive, N.C.; many nieces, nephews and cousins, including a close cousin, Gwyn Price, and husband, J. B., of Goldsboro, N.C.; three special long-time friends, Lois Simmons, Joan McCoy and Janice Miller; and many numerous friends who know in their hearts that they were loved; two very special angels, A. B. and Anne Fulcher, as well as, many other members of Union Baptist Church.

Funeral services officiated by the Revs. J.D. Moore and Patrick Coffey will be held Thursday 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.

The family would like to thank Dr. John Kessler with Virginia Oncology Associates and the Personal Touch Healthcare hospice staff, especially Linda Marroletti, for their dedication to Jewell's care and comfort.
