I.G. HOOD

Ira Gilmer "I.G." Hood, 84, died Wednesday at his home.

I.G. was born in Wayne County to the late Ira Hood and Sallibett Cox Hood. He was married to the late Wilma T. Hood. I.G. retired from Shaver Battery and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Golden "K" Kiwanis Club.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Homer Morris officiating.

I.G. is survived by his son, Michael Hood and wife, Elizabeth, of Richmond, Va.; his sister, Sally Yelverton of Eureka and her children, Marshall Yelverton and Randy Yelverton and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
