Luther Davis Saylors, 84, formerly of Fuquay-Varina, died Saturday, June 9, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 12, at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, 401 N. Ennis S., Fuquay-Varina. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
Mr. Saylors retired from the U.S. Army in 1968 with the rank of Sergeant Major. He was a survivor of Pearl Harbor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dottie Saylors.
Survivors include his son, Michael Saylors and wife, Martha, of Goldsboro; grandsons, Jason Saylors and wife, Elizabeth, of Raleigh, Kyle Saylors and wife, Beth, of Goldsboro, and Paul Saylors of Charleston, S.C.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 12, an hour prior to the funeral service at Thomas Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534 or to the Goldsboro Community Soup Kitchen, 112 W. Oak St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
