Died May 29, 2007

LEESBURG, Ga. -- Graveside service for Gene Earl Reed, formerly of Goldsboro, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Wayne Memorial Park.

A native of Portland, Oregon, Mr. Reed had resided in the Albany area for the past 30 years moving from Goldsboro. He managed Warrior Creek Plantation, Moultrie, Ga., Butterfield Plantation, Allendale, S.C., and Chokee Plantation, Leesburg, Ga., and was wildlife manager of Magnolia Plantation and Tallassee Plantation, Albany, Ga. Mr. Reed worked for Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Albany, Ga., and was an Army veteran serving in the 82nd Airborn, stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Earl Reed and Ruth VanCamp Reed.

Survivors include his wife, Elease Keen Reed of Leesburg, Ga.; a daughter and her husband, Pamela and John Ball of Pikeville; two sons, Douglas Gene Reed of Albany, Ga. and John Reed of Allendale, S.C.; six grandchildren and.a great-grandson.
