EUNICE W. CASEY

Died May 27, 2007

GRIFTON -- Eunice Winbon Casey, 85, died Sunday.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at St. Johns Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jim Cook, the Rev. Al McKenzie and Joy Dozier officiating. Burial will be in St. Johns Episcopal Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Casey was a member of St. Johns -- St. Marks Episcopal Church. She attended ECTC, ECC, and ECU and was a charter member of the Pirates Club. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Sorority, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and served meals to Grifton Lions Club for over 20 years. Mrs. Casey was an avid knitter, seamstress and gardener. She taught in the Pitt County Schools for 30 years and Lenoir Community College for 26 years. She enjoyed attending horse shows, preparing meals for family and friends, and she enjoyed going to the beach and camping. Mrs. Casey attended many 238th Combat Engineers Army reunions with her husband and family.

She is survived by her husband, Don Casey of the home; one daughter, Karen Casey-Wooten and husband, Larry, of Grifton; one cherished granddaughter, Afton Casey Wooten; sisters-in-law, Mary Stevens and husband, John, of Winston Salem, Martha Kornegay and husband, Bernard, of Virginia Beach, Va., Joyce Pate and husband, Troy, of Goldsboro; brother-in-law, Ed Casey of Grifton. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Sue Casey in 1990; brothers, Robert and Charles; and, sisters, Louise and Frances.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening at Farmer Funeral Home and other times at the home.
