M.D. BRINSON

Maurice Delma "M.D." Brinson, 86, a resident of the Sterling House, died Saturday afternoon at his home.
Mr. Brinson was born in Reelsboro, N.C., to the late Wallace E. Brinson and Lona Boyd Brinson. He was married to Dollie Heath Brinson, who preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 1996. Mr. Brinson served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the retired manager of Big Star Grocery Store in Goldsboro. Mr. Brinson was a member of the Downtown Lions Club and had served as a volunteer with the Wayne County voting polls.
Mr. Brinson was a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Goldsboro, where he had served as a deacon, song leader and as a choir member. He was a former member of Wilmington First Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he had served as superintendent, deacon, song leader and as a choir member.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Jimmy Whitfield and the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Brinson is survived by his sons, Leonard Ballard Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Four Oaks, Maurice D. Brinson Jr. of Calabash, Jerry Brinson and wife, Myra, of Raleigh, Paul Brinson and wife, Gayle, of Concord and Ronnie Brinson and wife, Trudy, of Goldsboro; eight grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two step-great-grand-children. He is also survived by his sisters, Vernice Listman of Newport Beach, Calif., and Mary Scheel of Raeford; his brothers, Otho Brinson of Oak Island and Forest Brinson of Charlotte; and his devoted friend, Barbara Eatmon.
Memorials may be made in his memory to the Falcon Children's Home, 7569 N. West St., Falcon, N.C. 28342.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
