KINSTON -- Violet Marie Barwick Hills, 66, died Sunday after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pinelawn Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Goff and the Rev. Lennie Regan officiating.

Violet was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. As a nurse, she retired from Caswell Center in Kinston. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ and member of Oak Forest Church of Christ, Goldsboro.

Violet was preceded in death by a son, Danny R. Waller; brothers, Kenny and Lester Barwick.

She is survived by her husband, Dave Hills; her mother, Eliza Hardy of Kinston; her children, Cheryl Mitchell and husband, Dr. Courtney Mitchell III, of Kinston, Zeb Waller Jr and wife, Marilyn, of Kinston, Jerry Waller and wife, Darlene, of Kinston, Joseph Dale Waller and wife, Sheila, of Billings, Mont.; grandchildren, Linda Patterson and husband, Mike, of Jackson, Miss., Wayne Kassouf Jr and wife, Emily, of Apex, Courtney Mitchell IV of Kinston, Kayla Waller and Sierra Waller of Kinston, Joseph Waller, Amanda Waller, Spenser Waller, Madison Waller and Ethan Waller of Billings, Mont.; brothers, Harlon Barwick of Kinston, Harry Ray Barwick and wife, Patsy, of Kinston, William "Bill" Barwick and wife, Glenda, of Kinston and Robert Barwick of Kinston; and, many nieces, nephews, church family and friends that she loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the building fund, Oak Forest Church of Christ, 2705 N. Park Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

Edwards Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
