SNEADS FERRY --Leonard Emerson Lanier, 82, of 320 W. Dunn St., Sneads Ferry and formerly of Goldsboro, died Saturday at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville. His death resulted from a brain hemorrhage.

Mr. Lanier was born in Lenoir County to the late George Arthur Lanier and Dora Belvord Lanier. He was married to the late Eva Mae Lanier.

Services will be held today at 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with his brother, Col. Rudy Lanier officiating. Interment will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. Lanier is survived by his son, E. R. "Ray" Lanier of Monticello, Ga.; his companion, Marilyn Williamson of Sneads Ferry; his sister, Rena Singleton of New Bern; his brothers, Rodolph "Rudy" Lanier of Forsyth County, Ga.; and Monroe Lanier of Durham; and his grandchildren, Ray Lanier Jr., and Newman Stephenson Lanier, both of Wilmington, Catherine Mary Eva Nestor of Cleveland, Ohio; and great-grandchildren Patrick Joseph Nestor and Elizabeth Malone Nestor of Cleveland, Ohio.

The family will receive friends Sunday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home.
