JOHN B. PRIDGEN

Died April 14, 2007

John Berry "J.B." Pridgen, 82, died Saturday at N.C. Special Care Center, Wilson. He was a native of Greene County, attended Greene County Schools, owner of Pridgen's Garbage Service and also owned a bus to transport workers to harvest crops for many years.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Lovick's Chapel AME Zion Church, Jason, with the Rev. Linda Speight officiating. Burial will follow in Old Mill Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lomack Pridgen Sr. and Rachel Rouse Pridgen and his wife, Pernell Pridgen.

Mr. Pridgen is survived by four sons, J. Ervin Pridgen of LaGrange, Thomas Pridgen of Snow Hill, Ellis and Michael Pridgen, both of Rochester, N.Y.; daughters, Lois Hobbs of Goldsboro, Charlotte Whitfield and Rachel Pridgen, both of Rochester, N.Y., Sylvia Barnes of Augusta, Ga.; sister, Ruth Pridgen of LaGrange; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be today at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, from 2 to 6 p.m. At other times the family will receive friends at 1689 Hood Swamp Road.
