WALTER THOMPSON

Dec. 8, 1921-April 12, 2007

Walter Thompson died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was born to William and Della Smith Thompson of Goldsboro. He attended the Goldsboro City Schools and graduated from Dillard High School in 1940. Walter married the late Cleo Barnes and was preceded in death by a sister, Ernell Thompson Hazard and brother, William Thompson.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Eastern Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Timothy Dortch officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. Viewing will be today from 2 to 6 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries.

Mr. Thompson worked for Kemp Furniture until his health failed. Walter owned his own construction company and established the Gold Park Lake Subdivision in Dudley, Thompson Motor Sales and Thompson Real Estate.

He is survived by two sons, Dennis Thompson and Raymond Atkinson, both of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
