J. RANDOLPH STROUD

MOUNT OLIVE -- James Randolph Stroud, 80, of 860 Maysville School Road, died Friday morning at Duplin General Hospital in Kenansville.
Born in Duplin County, he was the son of the late Barney Leroy Stroud and Mary Ethel Hamlin Stroud.
He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also was a member of Stanford Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder.
His working career was that of a mechanic, and he had been employed with Wilson Motor Co. in Mount Olive, Hill and Sanders Ford in Wheaton, Md., and Monroe Ford in Washington, DC.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jim Hazel "Jimmie" Roberts Stroud of the home; five children, Mary Ann S. Ralph and her husband, Joe, of Mount Olive, James Edward "J.E." Stroud and his fiancée, JoAnne Vaughn, both of Louisiana, Randy Stroud and his wife, Linda, of Mount Olive, Elaine S. Kornegay and her husband, Dennis, of Mount Olive, and Debra S. Bradshaw and her husband, Donnie, of Calypso; a sister-in-law, Beulah Stroud of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, "Buddy."
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nannie Mae Stroud; and two brothers, Leroy Stroud and Billy Stroud.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Debbie Marshall officiating.
Immediately after the service, the family will receive friends, and then burial will take place in the Roberts Family Cemetery near the home.
