Mrs. Moore was born in Wayne County on November 10, 1922, to the late William A. Martin Jr. and George Elizabeth Reaves Martin. Mrs. Moore attended Elon College in North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with certification in Public Health Nursing and a Bachelor of Science degree.

She graduated from Norfolk Virginia General Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse and served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in World War II in Black Mountain and Swannanoa, N.C. at the U.S. Army Tropical Disease Hospital as a Second Lieutenant.

Mrs. Moore served as a Registered Nurse in Virginia, North Carolina, California, New York and Gainesville, Florida as a Private Duty Nurse and for the Alachua County Health Department, Sperry Corporation in Gainsville, Florida and retired from the Malcolm Randell Veterans Administration Hospital in Gainsville, Florida in 1986 with 20 years of government service.

She enjoyed traveling throughout the world including China, Russia, Spain, Portugal, England, Ireland and Merida, which were her favorites. She loved her flowers and shrubs and the dirt of God's creation! Her happy hours were spent at "The Lake", the Moore cottage, built by her husband, Alan and his friends, on Lake Opal in Melrose, Florida. The happiest of these times there were her dog paddling around the crystal clear water. Upon her retirement from the nursing profession in 1986, she and her husband, Alan, spent summers at their home above the Linville River at Linville Land Harbor, Newland, N.C. where tending her flowers, flower boxes, reading and walking were her daily plans.

Mrs. Moore is survived by her loving husband, Alan C. Moore; her sister, Hannah Martin Teague of Eureka; sister-in-law, Peggy Davis Martin of Eureka; one niece, Tracey Martin Penrod of Eureka; and two nephews, William Anderson "Billy" Martin IV and Jonathan Claude Martin, both of Eureka.
